Statistical stability in dimension one

In the quadratic family, long-term statistical properties of a map fa : x → ax(1 − x) depend discontinuously on the parameter a. On the other hand, over a finite period of time, everything (including statistical properties) depend continuously. In joint work (in progress) with Alexey Korepanov (U Warwick), we search for the time-scale at which continuity breaks down.
