Mini course on A-hypergeometric functions (Jens Forsgard, University of Geneva)

22.11.2017 14:30

Abstract of Part 1: In the late 80's Gel'fand, Kapranov, and Zelevinsky introduced the A-hypergeometric system in an effort to find a systematic approach to the theory of multivariate hypergeometric functions. Their approach, based on toric geometry, unveiled a close relationship with polyhedral geometry. In this introduction, we aim to explain this relationship in detail. Starting with classical hypergeometric functions, we will work our way towards dual varieties, triangulations, and the secondary polytope. The presentation will be accessible for everyone.
