Higgs bundles and mirror symmetry (Nigel Hitchin, University of Oxford)
06.03.2018 15:00 – 17:00
Mirror symmetry in the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow interpretation adapts very well to the structure of the moduli space of Higgs bundles for a Lie group G.
The mirror is interpreted as the moduli space for the Langlands dual group. Within this context, the physics predicts a relationship between complex Lagrangian submanifolds (or BAA branes) on one side and so-called BBB-branes on the mirror. The latter are highly specialized differential-geometric objects. We consider through examples the evidence for the way this can work and the problems in formulating a more general correspondence.
