Algebraic and geometric aspects of string topology (Nathalie Wahl, Copenhagen)

05.03.2019 15:00 – 17:00

I'll describe graph complexes acting on the Hochschild complex of various flavors of Frobenius algebras, and explain how these graph complexes relate to the moduli space of Riemann surfaces and its harmonic compactification. String topology operations in characteristic zero will be deduced as an example and I will give examples of non-trivial higher string operations arising this way---such operations allow to detect non-trivial homology classes in the harmonic compactification of moduli space. (This comes from joint work with Craig Westerland and follow-up papers.)
