Black holes: guides to new gravitational physics

12.04.2019 14:15 – 15:15

There is increasing evidence for objects with black hole-like properties, but black hole evolution presents a fundamental
conflict with quantum laws.  This appears to be a profound clue towards a quantum theory incorporating gravity.
Parameterization of new behavior that can be consistent with quantum mechanics raises an interesting basic question in
quantum information theory.  The corresponding interactions between a black hole and its environment can possibly yield
observational signatures for Event Horizon Telescope or gravitational wave detection.
