Topological Early Universe Cosmology

14.05.2021 14:00 – 15:00

I will present a bing-bang free scenario where the early universe is described by a topological phase
without propagating degrees of freedom, followed by a standard second phase of Einstein gravity.
The set up is a four-manifold of Euclidean signature in the topological phase, which shares a
common boundary with a corresponding manifold of Lorentzian signature in the Einstein phase.
I will discuss the outcome of this scenario and I will compare it with previous ideas, and
in particular with the Penrose's Weyl curvature hypothesis, the universe's creation
out of nothing and the no-boundary proposal.
