Ethnomusicology Beyond Academia

Ethnomusicology Beyond Academia

27.10.2021 16:00 – 18:00

Ever since Ethnomusicology evolved from Comparative Musicology and re-defined the discipline’s scope, focus and method, it has been closely linked to practical activities. In this presentation, Dr. Lea Hagmann will focus on some of the ethnomusicological projects she has been involved with over the last 3 years that clearly go beyond her lecturing at the University of Bern. She strongly encourages students to think beyond academia and to get ideas about how ethnomusicology today can be successfully integrated into the broader society across social and geographic boundaries.
