TAP variational principle for the multiple SSK spin-glass model

14.12.2022 17:15

Spin-glasses originally have been studied to model and understand the behaviour of certain alloys, but became increasingly interesting as models for various complex (particle interaction) systems such as for climate/weather and machine learning as well. In this talk I will provide a brief introduction to spin-glass models, in particular the spherical Sherrington-Kirkpatrick model and its multiple replica variant. An important quantity of these models is the limiting free energy, for which Talagrand, Panchenko and Ko showed that it is given by a Parisi type minimization. In this talk we will discuss how it can also be expressed in terms of a TAP variational principle. The derived variational formula confirms that this model is replica symmetric, a fact which is natural but not obvious from the Parisi formula for the model.
