Introduction to Spectral Collocation (Conor McCoid, University of Geneva)

08.04.2019 17:00

Spectral collocation is capable of much faster convergence than finite difference methods in solving differential equations, but doesn't seem as commonplace. I will present an introduction to the method, including the basics of approximation theory, some choices of basis functions and a novel way to invert certain collocation matrices.
