ONLINE - Data Visualization in Management Research

29.10.2020 12:00 – 13:30

MANAGEMENT BROWN BAG SEMINAR / SHORT ABSTRACT

The design and presentation of their empirical work is an important component of an author’s voice. However, much of the evidence presentation in management research relies on fairly traditional, aggregated and isomorphic data visualization methods. Editors from management journals such as AMJ, SMJ and ASQ have encouraged scholars to utilize a greater repertoire of visualization techniques. Those techniques have the potential to establish trust and transparency in the data and to offer new insight.

This 90-minute talk will be structured in two parts: 1) a primer on how advanced data visualization may improve research and 2) an interactive mini workshop that illustrates how large-scale data can be visualized effectively using the software Tableau. Demo data, a software license key and further instructions will be provided in due course.
