Follow the Science? The Role of Expertise in Current and Recent Crisis
31.01.2023 11:45 – 13:45
The relationship between science and politics is organised differently depending on the subject area and the problem context. These differences are particularly noticeable in crises. They raise questions about the democratic legitimacy of expertise. Based on research on the financial crisis, climate crisis and Corona crisis, the presentation develops a model of scientific policy advice in crises, which it concretises with reference to Swiss democracy.
