The hidden side of particle physics

Abstract: The phenomenon of neutrino oscillations begs the question of the origin of neutrino masses and guides scientific endeavours that may elucidate the most conspicuous mysteries of modern physics. We will see how long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments can test the possibility that neutrinos behave differently than antineutrinos, which would strongly indicate that the neutrino sector is involved in the disappearance of antimatter in the Universe. The discovery of a heavy right-handed neutrino would have an even greater impact as such particles can be accountable for neutrino masses, dark matter, and matter-antimatter asymmetry. We will bring forward new experimental avenues by which heavy neutrinos could be observed directly at high-intensity beams with detectors able to reconstruct their in-flight decays.
