Anderson model and random products of matrices (Raphael Ducatez, UNIGE)

15.10.2018 15:15 – 16:15

We will introduce the Anderson model which is a random operator used to describe physical systems in random media. The most surprising prediction of the model is that, for large disorder, the diffusion of waves can disappear and the eigenvectors of our operator are localised in space. We will present some results on this question in any dimension and then focus on a the one dimensional case where the eigenvectors can be described explicitly with random product of matrices.
