BMS on the Worldsheet: the story of Tensionless Strings

09.05.2019 14:30 – 15:30

I will discuss the tensionless limit on closed strings from the point of view of worldsheet symmetries and the emergence of the BMS_3 algebra as the residual symmetry algebra on the worldsheet. The classical analysis yields expected answers while the quantum analysis leads to surprises. Connections to Hagedorn physics and many curiosities in the quantum regime would be commented on.
