Guessing Our Way to Six- and Seven- Loop Amplitudes
29.05.2019 14:30 – 15:30
Ansatz methods enable us to calculate multi-particle scattering amplitudes to extremely high loop orders, without ever drawing a Feynman diagram or performing a loop integral. They are especially powerful in the context of planar N=4 super Yang-Mills, where my collaborators and I have computed six-particle amplitudes up to seven loops. I will describe these methods, explaining which simplifications are specific to planar N=4 and which should apply to every quantum field theory. The latter include a wide range of input, from physics arguments made by Steinmann in the 60's to a recent mathematical conjecture called Cosmic Galois Theory.
