DQMP Seminar - Heterostructures of 2D quantum spin liquids: transport and correlation effects

16.05.2023 13:00 – 14:00

Quantum Spin Liquids (QSL) have recently enjoyed renewed interest. This is partly driven by synergies with quantum information theory and by the experimental progress, which provides evidence for new material realizations, in particular in 2D van-der-Waals materials. The chemical versatility of this platform allows and requires the study of new probes in device geometries combining QSLs with, e.g., metals or semimetals. In this talk, I will briefly present electrical tunneling signatures of Kitaev quantum spin liquids in such heterostructures [1]. As another all-electrical probe, I will discuss the signatures of gapless spinons in electrical drag experiments of QSL sandwich heterostructures [2] and present details on the temperature and density dependence.
Finally, I will discuss bulk 4Hb-TaS2, which is a layered material consisting of QSL and metallic layers, and I will attempt to provide theoretical insight into its unconventional superconducting properties
