Switchable tribology of ferroelectrics

Switchable tribological properties of ferroelectrics offer an alternative route to visualize and control fer-roelectric domains. Here, we ob-serve the switchable friction and wear behavior of ferroelectrics using a nanoscale scanning probe—down domains have lower friction coeffi-cients and show slower wear rates than up domains and can be used as smart masks. This asymmetry is enabled by flexoelectrically coupled polarization in the up and down do-mains under a sufficiently high con-tact force. Moreover, we determine that this polarization-sensitive tribo-logical asymmetry is widely applicable across various ferroelectrics with different chemical compositions and crystalline symmetry. Finally, using this switchable tribology and multi-pass patterning with a domain-based dynamic smart mask, we demonstrate three-dimensional nanostructuring exploiting the asymmetric wear rates of up and down domains, which can, furthermore, be scaled up to technologically relevant (mm–cm) size. These findings demonstrate that ferroelectrics are electrically tunable tribological materials at the nanoscale for versatile applications.

According to https://worldmetrics.org/linux-user-statistics/ 96.3% of the world’s top one million servers run on Linux; in sharp contrast to the few percent deployed on desktop computers.
We will present the gulu and discuss how to use the Linux ecosystem on an daily basis. The Groupe des Utilisatrices & Utilisateurs Linux de l’UniGE (gulu) main goal is to promote Linux usage at UNIGE (https://gulu-unige.ch/).
Some applications like eMail clients (e.g., thunder-bird) may require non-trivial configurations in order to properly use the calendar or LDAP directories, es-pecially when having to deal with two separate Mi-crosoft Office365 exchange accounts; the DavMail gateway provides a solution.

Linux benefits include:
▶ Security
▶ Cost
▶ Performance, especially on older hardware
▶ Customisation
▶ Stability and reliability
▶ Huge collection of applications
