03.12.2024 11:45 – 13:45
This dual presentation aims to provide an overview of the issue of substandard-falsified medical products (SFMP), exploring driving forces, global impact, and the holistic Prevent-Detect-Respond strategy to combat SFMP. The concept of traceability and its application in securing supply chains will be discussed, highlighting its role in ensuring the integrity and safety of medical products. Practical implementations will be illustrated though a series of cases studies, specifically addressing the issues of serialization, authentication features, implementation costs, and the potential of traceability to prevent SFMP. Finally the need for multistakeholder collaboration and information sharing to bridge the science/policy interface will also be discussed.
