Mirror Symmetry and Algebraic Cycles (Johannes Walcher, Heidelberg)

I will review the interactions between physics and geometry that have taken place in mirror symmetry for Calabi-Yau manifolds. Intriguingly, recent results indicate that the field of definition of the underlying algebraic varieties will play a role in fully extending mirror symmetry to D-branes.
