Agnostic reconstruction of a stochastic gravitational wave background at LISA
15.03.2019 14:15 – 15:15
The detection of a SGWB signal of cosmological origin would be a milestone in our understanding of the early universe.
Nevertheless such a detection would not be fully satisfactory if not accompanied by a proper interpretation. This would be
possible only if the SGWB signal could be characterized with some accuracy. In this talk we tackle this issue in the case
that the SGWB is detected at LISA, and we investigate how well the power-spectrum frequency dependence of an isotropic and
homogeneous SGWB can be reconstructed. The outcome is rather promising: if the instrumental noise is properly modelled, LISA
can reconstruct the signal with extreme high precision.
