Connections and Differences Between Cinema and Videogames Storytelling

Cinema is designed for an audience, as videogame is designed for players. On one side there is a passive reception of a story and director vision, and on the other side an active participation to an experience. The writing for each media seems to be completely different. But despite this apparent gap they are inspired and nourished by each other. Narrative games take more and more their shots, direction, actors from films, and cinema is more and more looking into branched stories and inspired by the interactivity offered by videogames to involve their audience. They still have a lot to learn from each other narrative language. On the storytelling aspect the differences between these two media tend to blur.
