1-dimensional conformal gravity and the Schwarzian theory

10.06.2021 14:00 – 15:00

The Schwarzian theory arises as the low energy effective theory of certain quantum mechanical models with random couplings (the SYK model) and some tensor theories. In this talk I will describe another perspective that makes it clear that this is nothing else than conformal gravity in 1-dimension. This perspective elucidates certain technical issues regarding the quantum measure of the theory and allow for an exact calculation of the partition function without invoking localization arguments. I will comment on the significance and applications of this perspective. This is work in progress with D. Anninos and S. Vitouladitis.
