Gravitational Effective Field Theory Islands and the Four-Graviton Amplitude

25.11.2021 15:30 – 17:00

Effective-field-theory Wilson coefficients can be bounded by applying basic principles of the underlying theory, including unitarity, causality, and Lorentz invariance. We discuss the derivation of such bounds, and then we present evidence that much stronger bounds should exist for physically sensible theories. We do this in the context of the four-graviton amplitude, which enables us to constrain the space of allowed corrections to Einstein gravity.
