Quantum Gravity S-matrix Bootstrap
10.11.2022 10:00 – 11:00
The novel nonperturbative S-matrix Bootstrap approach aims at determining the space of QFTs by bounding physical observables that can be extracted from scattering amplitudes. In this talk, I will use the Bootstrap to carve out the space of unitarity, crossing symmetric and maximally supersymmetric graviton scattering amplitudes in nine, ten, and eleven dimensions. In doing so, I will review the philosophy behind and the techniques, and I will introduce a novel extension of positivity dubbed "positivity in the sky". I will show the bounds on the first Quantum Gravity correction to the effective action and compare the results with the String and M-theory predictions. I will conclude by mentioning phenomenological applications of the Bootstrap summarizing the results I have obtained in the context of pi-pi scattering and QCD flux-tube physics.
