Groups with harmonic functions whose gradient goes to zero (Gady Kozma, Weizmann Institute & UNIGE)

12.12.2023 10:30

We will discuss the question: which finitely generated groups support a harmonic function with a gradient going to zero? This problem is inspired by a conjecture of Gromov and Cheeger about the reduced l_p cohomology and is also of interest from the point of view of 'weak hyperbolicity'. We will discuss constructions of amenable, and even Liouville, groups with this property. All notions will be defined in the talk. Joint work with Gidi Amir, Guy Blachar and Maria Gerasimova.
