Moduli spaces of graphs (Karen Vogtmann, University of Warwick)
08.10.2024 10:30
First lecture of a minicourse (Oct 8-10)
This minicourse will be an introduction to the study of moduli spaces of finite metric graphs. Motivation for understanding these spaces comes from many areas of mathematics and science, including geometric group theory, the classical moduli space of Riemann surfaces, Kontsevich's graph complexes, perturbative quantum field theory and even phylogenetics.
I will focus on explaining what is known about topological invariants of these spaces, such as Euler characteristics and cohomology.
