Talk Peter Reschke (CISA seminar)

19.11.2024 12:15 – 13:15

The contextualized nature of emotion perception: How did we get here, what do we know, and where do we go from here?

Influential emotion theory claims that the face is the primary cue used to perceive emotions in others. However, research the past two decades (and beyond) has challenged this notion. In this seminar, I will discuss the contextual nature of emotion in three ways: (1) How did we get here? I will present background information on longstanding emotion theories and research, (2) What do we know? I will discuss the research that has challenged the status quo and its strengths and weaknesses, and (3) Where do we go from here? I will suggest future areas of research needed to further explore the contextual nature of emotion perception.
