Plumbing according to the Links-Gould invariant (Roland van der Veen (Bernouilli Institute, University of Groningen)))
21.11.2024 16:15
We will illustrate how one can plumb together two embedded
surfaces in three-space and why that matters to knot theory. Our main
result is that the top coefficient of the Links-Gould invariant is
multiplicative under plumbing. The Links-Gould invariant comes from the
representation theory of quantum super algebras but we will not get
technical about this. Instead we will use its cubic skein relation to
illustrate the striking connection to surfaces, plumbing and fibered
knots in an elementary fashion. This is joint work in progress with
Daniel Lopez-Neumann.
