Reentrant Algebraic Order at High Temperature
08.10.2026 14:00 – 15:00
Increasing temperature typically drives systems from order to disorder. This familiar expectation can fail, however, when a system is coupled to a critical sector, a phenomenon often discussed in the context of symmetry non-restoration. In this talk, I explore how this mechanism manifests when conventional long-range order is absent and order is instead encoded by a nonlocal order parameter, with correlations that decay algebraically. I will show that coupling to a critical sector can stabilize an algebraically ordered phase at elevated temperatures, producing reentrant order upon heating together with associated massless modes.
