Discrete numerical models for natural processes (Bastien Chopard, Unige)

22.11.2016 14:15

In this talk I will start with a short introduction to the lattice Boltzmann method and show several applications developed in my research group with this technique. Then I will present a cell-based model of epithelium and discuss its elastic properties in relation to experimental results. Finally I will present in more detail a numerical model describing the deposition of platelets subject to a shear flow. The model combines the coupling of 1D diffusion processes with a 2D particle based adhesion-aggregation model. Its results are compared to in-vitro measurements.
