Geometric properties of the one-dimensional shallow water equations (Line Probst, Unige)
25.11.2016 10:15
In this talk I will start with a brief introduction to the shallow water equations that describe water flows such as rivers, ocean tides or tsunamis. I will focus on two major difficulties: the maintain of the steady state of the lake at rest and the preservation of the non-negativity of water heights, and then present a numerical method able to solve efficiently these problems. Finally, I will show some results of numerical tests as well as an experimental test.
