Analytical and numerical aspects of supercritical stationary Navier-Stokes problems (Peter Wittwer, Unige)

We give an introduction to the difficulties of the exterior stationary Navier-Stokes problem in two dimensions for which the non-linearity is super-critical, so that the discussion of the associated linear problem is of limited use (Stokes paradox).
While complete proofs are still lacking, a blend of techniques from asymptotic analysis, group theory, computer algebra, and most important numerical analysis, have permitted to obtain considerable insight into the structure of solutions of such nonlinear problems.
