Adaptive finite elements with large aspect ratio (Marco Picasso, EPFL)

A posteriori error estimates for finite elements with large aspect ratio will be presented for elliptic, parabolic and hyperbolic problems. The goal is to bound the true error by a computable error estimator, the involved constants being independent of the mesh aspect ratio. Adaptive algorithms based on these a posteriori error estimates will be proposed. Numerical results for academic and industrial problems will be presented.
